Both during and after pregnancy a mother’s body undergoes some fairly dramatic changes. The last thing a mother will say is that they’re ungrateful for their postpartum body but the reality is that the process leaves many moms looking and feeling less than their best. When a patient comes to the clinic for a mommy makeover, we ensure them that it’s not a one size fits all approach. We create a custom treatment plan complete with both surgical and non-surgical options suited to your body and desired outcome.
Disclaimer: Not all women need to have all of the procedures listed to have a mommy makeover.
It’s common for women to want a breast lift after giving birth because the breasts will dramatically expand and contract during milk production. It’s also very common for a mother’s breast to increase by several cup sizes during breastfeeding just to deflate afterwards. As the skin stretches to accommodate the production of milk, the breasts can be left flatter and shapeless before child birth. To fix this, a surgical breast lift is added into the mommy makeover treatment plan. It’s also common for a woman’s breasts to become smaller than they were after breastfeeding is complete. If this case is present we couple the breast lift with a breast augmentation either by implant or fat transfer.
During pregnancy it is common for women to develop extra fat on their hips, thighs and abdomen area. To eliminate these stubborn fat deposits we can use liposuction. The great part about liposuction is that if it is in combination with a breast procedure we may be able to transfer the fat from the liposuction areas into the breasts, known as a breast augmentation by fat transfer.
Loose skin is a normal experience after pregnancy as your skin will stretch to accommodate your growing stomach. However, after pregnancy it is common for the skin around your stomach to remain loose. The way your skin “bounces back” can depend on factors such as age, weight and genetics and a lot of the time no amount of diet, exercise or topical creams can change it.
Our method of reducing loose skin is to perform an abdominoplasty or a tummy tuck. These procedures are completed after the patient has decided to forgo having anymore pregnancies. A standard or full tummy tuck will remove excess skin and fat from just above the pubic hairline all the way up to the belly button. A mini tummy tuck will remove excess skin and fat below the belly button and an extended tummy tuck removes skin from the upper and lower abdomen and the sides of the body.
Lastly, to treat urinary incontinence we offer a non-invasive treatment called Emsella. This unique technology revolutionizes women’s intimate health and wellness by strengthening the entire pelvic floor. Emsella is FDA approved, delivers thousands of kegel contractions per treatment and has no downtime.
